For new transaction processed on or after October 14, 2011, Visa has increased the transaction receipt retention period from 12 months to 13 months to align with the Visa International Operating Regulations. For merchants processing healthcare transactions, the transaction receipt retention period of 5 years remains unchanged.
For your reference transaction receipt retention periods for the other card brands are:
- MasterCard –18 months from the date of transaction.
- Discover –12 months from the date of transaction.
- American Express – 6 months from the date of transaction.
